Nerves are your alarm system
Nerves are designed to send information about the environment to the brain and warn of a threat.
For an alarm system to be effective, it needs to discern what information is a threat (i.e. the shadow of a burglar) and what information is not a threat (i.e. a falling leaf).
With chronic pain, your nervous system becomes highly sensitive, minimal activity sets off your alarm.
An alarm that is constantly going off is exhausting and leads to distrust of the information.
Accurate information is therapy.
Knowledge has the power to rewire your alarm.
